I've always enjoyed supporting local businesses whenever I can but competing with multinational bigger companies isn't easy. Honestly I think the playing field simply too uneven for them to enjoy success on a big scale.

There is no way small businesses can be able to survive in an economy where the big multinational companies are quite active without government backing. If governments don't set up policies that can regulate supplies and pricing, then the chances of those small businesses failing becomes even higher.

I completely agree with you on the need for government to policies that can regulate pricing because that's what would give such small businesses a life line in the market. If the big companies are allowed to set pricing as they see fit, they will sell quite below what small businesses can sell to survive.
