I saw this and thought I would share. My property taxes are crazy here in California.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on May 27 called for a special legislative session to pass his plan to exempt homeowners from paying property taxes on their permanent residence.

“Taxing something that you own repeatedly, which is a property tax, is the worst way to do taxation,” DeSantis said in a news conference on May 27.

DeSantis said he hopes that eliminating taxes from Florida homesteads could be a bipartisan effort.

“You pay all these taxes to acquire that property, and then year after year, you’re just having to write a check just for the privilege of being able to maintain ownership of something that is supposedly yours,” he said.

No lies detected...

Skyrocketing property taxes are the result of massive bond fraud by the school districts.  These grifters have been robbing property owners blind in Florida and throughout the U.S. Mitch Wexler has been all over this from the beginning and word is getting out.  That's why this sudden push to end property taxes...they've been busted.  How about reimbursing us as well!  PROPERTY TAX: Death of Homeownership & Small Business

I live in FL. I hope you guys noticed that in the past 7 yrs, property tax revenue has nearly doubled...DOUBLED, yet it is never enough for these county government. Bay County is a perfect example. Thousands of new homes have been built in recent years. That is NEW money coming in. People who have been living there should be seeing their property taxes go DOWN because you have thousands more paying into the "pool". County officials don't see it that way however. To them, that is THERE money so they can inflate their pay AND pensions.

I hope other states will follow suit and aim to try to eliminate property taxes. If you own something you shouldn't have to keep paying taxes on the house, car, etc that you already own! I was hoping my state would have passed to end property taxes, but most of Missourians voted no on the amendment. 😡 I agree with Ron on this and I hope this will pass in Florida.
